Black History Month & Puff Puff with Blood Orange Glaze

Puff Puff are a real classic made without any milk or animal products it’s a naturally vegan recipe that is a classic Nigerian all time favorite. The Puff Puff are often also revered to as being the African doughnut which is so versatile and can be served in a number of flavor combinations.

In the name of Black History Month, I decided to make a classic from my country. Puff Puff can’t miss at any Nigerian party, weeding or any other occasion were you just want to serve up the best foods. Usually made with little to no sugar I decided to spice things up and add a Blood Orange glaze to this recipe. After all it is still Citrus Season.

February is one of my favorite months in the year as content creators and websites share inspiring content and information on black history month. There is so much to learn from the history of people of the diaspora to the history of African Americans in the US. This year I have been intrigued by the history of afro Germans and Afro Austrians who have been part of Germanys and Austrians landscape for more than 200 years. A part of history that isn’t spoke about much. In Austria one of the best-known Afro Austrians is Angelo Soleman who’s life and work have been shown in a movie and in museums around the world.

In terms of food you will have probably noticed that the Internet is similar to real live. Diversity is not something that you will find in the food industry and sector but that is slowly changing. Some of my favorite bloggers of color are definitely a kitchen far away, a kitchen in Uganda and kitchenbutterfly . Connecting with each other is defiantly a way of creating more visibility in the industry.
