Vegan Chocolate Cake with Chai poached Pears
This recipe might not look that healthy to you because of the creamy chocolate and the dense chocolate cake but as always I used alternative sugar and the chai poached pears are packed with healthy components. Finding the right pears can be a tricky business. It`s hard to find the ones that are ripe and taste good. Sometimes the nicest looking pears turns out to taste horrible. With this recipe it dosen`t really matter if the pears look or even taste great. Poaching pears is always great especially for the ones that are quite hard and wouldn`t really be edible.
The Pears were cooked in Chai tea for some minutes and soaked up the chai tea which intensified the chai taste. The longer you cook the pears the more intense the chai taste becomes but if cooked to long the pears get to soft and you end up with compote rather than poached pears. The chai taste corresponds great with the chocolate.
Chai tea is a traditional Indian tea that is packed with a number of spices. One component is black tea and Ginger, Cinnamon and Cardamon. All these ingredients have great health properties. Cardamon for example improves digestion and increases your energy level. The same holds for ginger.
If you have figured out how to bake absolutly perfect level headed cakes please let me know, because this is how my cakes always turn out. The good thing about it is that you can cut of the top of the cakes and eat them all week. Enjoy the recipe and let me know how it turned out for you.
